Still no hard frost

We are still picking tomatoes every day. Late planted carrots are about two inches long and very sweet and succulent. I love the flavor of the rainbow carrot variety.Found enough peas on the tiny late-planted vines to have a handful. I can't believe they actually produced as the plants are only about four inches tall. We also have all the lettuce we could want, although something is eating it...probably sylvilagus floridanus. Or it could be really big, ugly mutant slugs. It is late for a hard frost but not the latest I have ever seen.

I won't say that I am ready for frost, but the air is heavy, humid and unpleasant. A breath of fresh air would be just that.

Am I a nerd for knowing that Sylvilagus floridanus is the Eastern Cottontail??? I found it ironic that you too are writing about the lack of frost in our parts, seeing as I just finished a similar post myself! ...I like the picture of the Sempervivens tectorum...(if that's what it is!)

Hi RS, not a bit nerdy. We have fun with proper names of critters, but only know a handful. I learned em in college and taught the kids just for the heck of it. I will get over to your place and read your post after work. And thanks...
