April 16, 1874

From the diary of Charles Thurwood, farmer, Fort Plain, NY

13eggs 2 geese eggs
Cloudy and windy and cold in the forenoon and I done nothing but sat in the house. We boilt maple sugar, 14 pound and in the afternoon I sharpened hop poles and we got five pales of sap and at night I went to Dunckels and Dunkel came to our house.
